Event description:
Tinaroo Dam's outstanding reputation as a barramundi fishery is built on the efforts of the Tableland Fish Stocking Society and the annual Tinaroo Barra Bash. The introduction of thousands of barramundi fingerlings each year is vital to the dam. Barramundi cannot breed in fresh water. Many fisher persons will be trying to fine tune their skills at catching the elusive barra.
Fishing starts at 5.30pm on Friday and ends at the presentation event on the lakes shores at Tinaroo Township which starts with fish releases at around 10.30am on Sunday and the weigh in event starting at 12 noon. All nominations can be purchased at local sports & tackle stores in Cairns, Atherton, Yungaburra, Mossman, Innisfail and Tinaroo. You can use a boat or fish from the bank and you can keep your barramundi as long as it is legal size 58cm.
